Yes that is about the long and the
short of the human condition it will only change if every one becomes
enlightened, free thinking, humble, cooperative beings with Altruism
as the normal state of being human.
As opposed to greedy, self centered,
twisted money grabbing bully's that our society ego and upbringing
leads a great many of the human race to be.
Some thing that our ego, the divisions
of race, religion, nationality, ethnicity have fostered and
encouraged over the millennia of our existence.
In that we have been encouraged to
strive to be better than the rest in ways that are not conducive to a
free egalitarian, nurturing, loving, tolerant society's.
The birth if the Hippy generation and
the peace movement signaled the beginning of a change and potential
age of enlightenment. It has been to a large extent rubbished and
corrupted and in many society's across the world it has never even
got started its current manifestation in the Arab spring the protests
in Hong Kong the traumas of Ukraine are being brutally suppressed by
their own hierarchies and exploited by the others from out side and
turned into the unending war on terrorism.
So there are doubts in my mind that as
a race of beings and as society's we will ever be able to lift our
selves out of the filth and squalor of the this condition .
I am in my 68th year off life an of the
opinion that it is only the individual that can be truly spiritual
and free and enlightened. That the idea if each individual having to
be the change they want in the society they inhabit is the only way
forward. Self change and enlightenment. We know its true for mental
health , drug addiction and all those problems so it has to be true
at a macro societal national cultural religious and ethnic level too.
