J.D.VANCE MAY BE THE VICE PRESIDENT
BUT HE REALLY IS AN IDIOT
JD Vance did claim that the UK could become the first "truly Islamist country" to possess nuclear weapons following the Labour Party's election victory.
He made these remarks at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington DC, joking that while Iran or Pakistan might be candidates, the UK "since Labour just took over" fit the description.
Vance did not explicitly state that the UK would threaten the Americas with these weapons, but he framed the emergence of an "Islamist" nuclear-armed UK as a major global danger related to nuclear proliferation, noting that the Biden administration "doesn't care about it."
UK officials and political figures have strongly rejected Vance's characterization:
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner stated she does not "recognise" the characterization and called the comments "fruity."
The Muslim Council of Britain condemned the remarks as "divisive and dangerous," while Baroness Sayeeda Warsi described them as "everyday Islamophobia."
Treasury Minister James Murray expressed confusion, stating he did not understand what Vance was "driving at" in his comments.
